NEW YORK CHEESE MAKERS AWARDED at ACS

This past weekend, the ACS 2009 cheese competition, in which there were more than 1300 cheeses entered, announced its awards in numerous categories. Below are listed award winners (farm name) who are Guild members, placement, name of cheese, and category. Congratulations to the cheese makers for their sterling achievements! We applaud you loudly.

- Catapano Dairy Farm, 3rd, Ricotta, Fresh unripened cheeses made from Goat milk.

- Old Chatham Sheepherding Company, 1st, Ricotta, Fresh unripened cheeses made from sheep milk or mixed milk; !st, Hudson Valley Camembert Square, and 2nd, Nancy's Camembert, both Soft-ripened, sheep milk or mixed.

- Coach Farm, 3rd, Aged Wheel, Soft ripened goat's milk; 2nd, Triple Cream Wheel; 3rd, Reduced Fat Stick - Herb, and 3rd, Reduced Fat Stick - Dill, both Low fat/low salt, flavor added; 2nd, Reduced fat natural cheese spread, Open category, made from Goat's milk, cold pack cheese and cheese food, unflavored.

-Cooperstown Cheese Company, 2nd, Toma Celena, American made/International style, open category, cow's milk.

- Asgaard Farm, 2nd (tie), FET.A.COMPLIS, Feta, goat's milk, and2nd, Fresh chevre, Rindless, fresh goat's milk.

- Rainbeau Ridge, 2nd, ChevreLait, Fresh goat's milk, shaped form.
